Day 1 of bus journey across Canada
We left right at traffic time so the first two hours were a lot of stop and go.
Not my favourite.
I ate my dinner (a sandwich) one hour into the ride. I also drank a lot of my water.
I hope there are places along the way to fill up my water.
I brought 4 L of water, and approximately 3 litres of other fluids (coconut water, OJ, flavours fizzy water).
But I’m so thirsty already. I forgot that buses have recycled air and it tends to get really dry.
We’ve had a couple stops already, some people getting on, others getting off.
Every time someone comes on, I pretend to sleep so that they don’t ask to sit beside me. I have two bags and I’d rather not need to squish them on my lap. There are a lot of other open seats.
On the drive, I’ve already seen some sheep, some cows and horses.
Those have been the highlights so far.
It’s raining quite a bit and the clouds are hanging low in the sky. The mountains and hills are barely visible. Sometimes I can see the silhouettes of the mountains behind the fog and cloud.
I’ve enjoyed the chance to sit, breathe, and listen to music. I haven’t listened to music for hours just to listen to music in a long time and it is amazing. I really love it. Each song has so many layers, and listening for hours, allows me to sink in deeper and have a more immersive experience with music, sound, and voice.
And that’s it for Day 1.
